Teachers
Russ Miller, Basic class
Russ Miller first started teaching for Larry May and Jill Christy in their first studio on Linden Ave. Eventually he taught up through intermediate Silver and the highest teacher certification he received was Final Bronze. He received a Regional Top Teacher Award.
Doug Shafner, Bronze I class
Doug started dancing in the mid-1970's when Disco was all the rage. He began learning ballroom at the YWCA and Gilmore's. In 1991 he and his wife opened a new studio called Tanya's School of Dance in Lima. He still teaches both private and group lessons there. He is certified to teach American style Bronze and Silver ballroom dancing.
Larry May, Bronze II/Silver class
Larry has been teaching dance for 34 years. He is fully certified in all styles of ballroom dancing, including American, International Standard, International Latin, and Theatrical. He is a member of the NDCA and the Fred Astaire National Council of Dance. He is listed as a Championship Adjudicator, Scrutineer, Emcee and Chairman of Judges with the NDCA. He currently teaches students at Elegance in Dance, Dance Royale, and A-Marika Dance School.
Jill Christy, Silver/Gold class and Add-on
Jill first started teaching for the Dayton Ballroom Dance Club in 1983. She's been ballroom dancing since she was 18. That year she went into the local Fred Astaire Studio and applied to be trained as an instructor. She fell in love with it right away and three months later she was ready to teach. She's now a certified Bronze, Silver and Gold instructor. She competed for five years and was once the Ohio State Champion. She ran a dance studio in Dayton for ten years with Larry May.
